Title: AAPD Development Associate

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) seeks a Development Associate. The position is currently open. The AAPD Development Associate reports to AAPD’s Sr. Vice President for Development and Communications, and assists the Sr. VP with all aspects of development and event management, and with the coordination of communications tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Write government, foundation, and corporate grant proposals
- Write/submit reports to government, foundation, and corporate donors as required
- Oversee preparation of donor acknowledgements
- Identify and research prospective donors/funding sources
- Maintain donor and contact files
- Assist with campaign, major gifts, and planned giving activities
- Work with events, grantwriting, and development consultants
- Participate in planning of AAPD events and committee meetings
- Assist and support the SVP, President, and leadership in carrying out fund-raising activities
- Monitor development-related items on the AAPD website
- Assist with preparation of materials for reports and brochures, like the AAPD annual report
- Projects/initiatives/tasks as assigned by the Sr. VP
Qualifications:
The candidate will have an undergraduate degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience. The candidate will demonstrate previous development/grantwriting experience. The candidate should possess excellent written, verbal communications, organizational, and computer skills; be able to prioritize tasks, work within tight deadlines, and work independently; and be highly organized.

The Program Assistant supports the Manager of Mentoring and Leadership Programs in the following AAPD Programs:
- Disability Mentoring Day (DMD)
- AAPD Congressional Summer Internship Program
- AAPD Federal IT Summer Internship Program
- Paul G. Hearne Leadership Award Program
- Henry B. Betts Award Leadership Program
Responsibilities:
- Maintain all digital and physical files and records pertaining to the Mentoring and Leadership programs.
- Provide administrative and technical support to the Program Manager including voice mail, email, website tracking and development, and database management.
- Assist with implementation of Program logistics, Program information dissemination, respond to Program inquiries, and applicant tracking and follow-up.
- Ensure accessibility of all Program materials and publications.
- Assist with other office support as needed.
Requirements: Candidates must have at least undergraduate degree and be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a team-player. Candidates should have demonstrated abilities in MS Office including Excel and experience in research. Ideal candidates will have above-average writing skills and experience with list-management and web content maintenance. Knowledge of accessibility, disability rights, and reasonable accommodations is preferred.
