Independent Living Resource Center San Francisco, located in the financial district (downtown SF very near to BART/MUNI) is looking for a COMMUNITY OUTREACH SUPERVISOR.  This position reports directly to the Program Director.

Independent Living Resource Center San Francisco (ILRCSF) is a disability rights advocacy and support organization. ILRCSF’s mission is achieved by: systems change; community education; partnerships with business, community organizations and government; and consumer directed services.

Salary for this position is in the range of $42,000-$46,000 annually, and includes a benefits package: health, dental, vision, and life insurance and 403(b) employee contribution retirement plan, 4 weeks vacation and flexible scheduling.

Job Description
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Community Outreach Supervisor is responsible for the development, oversight, and supervision of ILRCSF’s Outreach and Volunteer programs, and Information and Referral services.  This position will focus outreach efforts on un/under represented communities including: diverse disability groups, ethnic and cultural communities.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Supervise cross disability/multicultural outreach staff
  2. Coordinate and evaluate the operation of current ILRCSF outreach efforts to un/under represented communities
  3. Develop new programs that address needs of un/under represented communities
  4. Recruit, train/orient, place and maintain volunteers
  5. Maintain and update Information & Referral resources, as well as respond to requests for information and agency participation in community events
  6. Develop, conduct and/or coordinate trainings and presentations for consumers and service providers
  7. Reporting to, funders, Board etc.
  8. Participate in Officer of the Day duties 
  9. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. Must identify as a person with a disability as part of independent living/role modeling approach. (Includes diabetes, asthma, heart disease, HIV, or other disabilities which significantly effects some daily activity or activities).
  2. Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
  3. Must have at least 2 years experience supervising paid staff.
  4. Experience working with volunteers.
  5. Experience in a relevant field of human services.
  6. Familiarity with significant issues affecting people with disabilities and ability to translate that into Program supervision and development.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills—particularly the ability to understand and clearly communicate with diverse groups in a cross-disability environment.
  8. Able to assess human skills and challenges and create atmosphere that encourages growth. 
  9. Experience with resolving conflicts, or teaching conflict resolution skills; the ability to model the communication skills in successfully resolving conflicts. 
  10. Experience developing, coordinating, and conducting trainings.
  11. Excellent presentation/trainings communication skills including experience in public presentations with the ability to present to groups or individuals and respond to multiple needs in those settings.
  12. Ability to come to work scent free.
