Billing and Accounting Clerk, Center for Living & Working, Inc. (Worcester, MA)

Company: Center for Living & Working, Inc. (CLW) is located in Worcester, Massachusetts and is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency founded in 1975 by a core group of young adults with disabilities. CLW is a consumer-directed, multi-programmed, multifaceted agency, dedicated to the empowerment of all persons with disabilities to live as independently as possible. CLW provides four core services: Advocacy, Skills training, Peer support and Information and Referral. 


  • Review, analyze and prepare billing invoices and claims for Medicaid and other fee for services billings provided by CLW.
  • Reconcile the Remittance Advises (RAs) for payments received.
  • Enter accounts payable invoices, create Accounts Payable Aging Reports, prepare checks for signature, mail out payments and file documentation.
  • Assist the Senior Accountant as needed with accounts receivables, other billings and special projects.
  • Prepare and make bank deposits.
  • Assist Senior Accountant in researching tax issues for the Fiscal Intermediary as necessary by providing the appropriate paperwork and information.
  • General agency administrative tasks such as filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires frequent communication (orally and/or in writing) with staff, state agencies, business partners/vendors and other third parties;
  • This position requires the ability to understand the contract requirements for billing
  • This position requires the ability to accurately enter information into database;
  • This position requires the ability to use office machinery, including calculators;
  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time;
  • This position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • High School or equivalent (GED) required, Associate Degree in accounting or business administration;
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.


  • 1-3 years in billing, including third-party billing, and accounts payable.
  • Accounting Software (MIP)
  • Excel, Microsoft Office and data base management
