CMS announced this week that an additional 14 states will receive funding for Money Follows the Person Rebalancing Demonstration Projects.

The States receiving Money Follows the Person Demonstration Project Grants during the second allocation of funding are: Delaware, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. 

NCIL congratulates the states that received grants to help shift Medicaid from its historical emphasis on institutional long-term care services to a system that offers more choices for seniors and persons with disabilities.

The awards total $1.75 billion over the next five years (2007-2011). NCIL members, disability advocates and individuals with disabilities alike can celebrate the fact that our years of advocacy efforts are paying off. NCIL members were instrumental in making MFP a reality.  It is now only a matter of time before people are able to rejoin their loved ones in the community!
