NCIL Seeking Election Day Barrier Stories
2006 marks the first year of full implementation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), which guarantees all Americans (including people with disabilities) the right to a private and independent vote. NCIL's ADA/Civil Rights Subcommittee wants to hear about your experience at the polls. If you ran into any obstacles while trying to vote on Election Day, whether it was an inaccessible polling place, a voting machine that didn't accommodate you, a polling place worker who was unwilling to work with you; if you had ANY problems voting privately and independently, NCIL wants to know about it! If you had a problem voting, it is vital that you specify the location of your polling place.
Please e-mail your Election Day stories to Daniel Davis at Daniel@ncil.org, or send a FAX to (202)-207-0341. Remember, voting is a civil right and should never be denied to anyone regardless of his or her disability!
