Dear Independent Living Advocate:
Thank you to those who generously contributed to the NCIL Katrina Disaster Relief Fund to rebuild and stabilize Centers for Independent Living damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. These CILs very much appreciate the tens of thousands of dollars you have contributed to the fund, but there is much work to be done and they need your continued support. Thank you especially to Logisticare Corporation and Logisticare Foundation for contributing over $10,000 to specifically address the transportation needs of those centers damaged or destroyed by the storm.
At your urging, the NCIL Governing Board voted to establish a NCIL Disaster Relief Fund to help those CILs damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Rita and other disasters. Rest assured that all money donated to the NCIL Katrina Disaster Relief Fund and postmarked by September 30th will go directly to those Centers damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
Please also know that 100% of collections will go to all damaged or destroyed Centers. I want to adamantly assure you that none of your contributions to the those CILs damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Katrina or other disasters will be used for other purposes. In fact, NCIL is not taking any administration fee for the fund and your support for affected centers IS NOT tied to NCIL Membership; your donation will support the rebuilding of all damaged centers! Your donation (money only) is needed immediately, to enable these centers to resume operations as soon as possible.
Your tax-deductible contribution to the NCIL Disaster Relief Fund can be sent to:
