CIL NET Presents… A Teleconference & Webinar Series
Part I
Get to the Core of It: Information & Referral
March 24, 2010; 3:00-4:30 PM EST
** Registration for this event is now closed **
This year, CIL NET is offering a teleconference & webinar series on the four-core services of Centers for Independent Living. Each presentation in the series will feature CIL staff and programs that are especially successful at providing excellent services to their communities. Taking place in five parts, the series will explore best practices and innovative approaches to the four core services:
- Part I: Information & Referral
- Part II: Peer Support
- Part III: Independent Living Skills Training
- Part IV: Individual Advocacy
- Part V: Systems Advocacy
In the first event in the series, “Get to the Core of It: Information & Referral”, our presenters will provide participants with a philosophical approach to I&R before delving into details about the staff skills and policies needed to run an exemplary I&R program.
Our presenters have embraced the idea that I&R is more than just a numbers game – it’s the front door of their Centers and a way to get more people with disabilities involved in the Center and the Movement!
Target Audience: Executive directors, I&R specialists, and any staff of Centers for Independent Living who are involved in providing I&R services
Registration Fee: $75.00 per site. Fee does not apply per participant; registrants are encouraged to gather as many individuals as desired to participate by telephone or webcast. ALL CILs and SILCs are encouraged to participate in this important training. We know some organizations need several weeks to cut checks – don’t let this stop you from registering! Register today and send payment as soon as you are able, even if you must wait until after the presentation.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will have knowledge and resources that will enable them to:
- Explain the critical role of I & R as the gateway to providing CIL consumers with information, knowledge, and resources in an efficient and responsive manner
- Describe strategies to organize, track, and maintain comprehensive and extensive resource information on numerous disability-related topics
- Describe best practice policies, procedures and staff training that result in highly effective interactions with consumers
- Describe how to conduct follow up with consumers to determine the effectiveness of their CIL’s I & R service delivery
