About: Does your Center want to serve more people with a higher quality of service? This training will focus on financial planning and program development, drawing the connection between fiscal management and the mission of Centers for Independent Living. Participants will learn about the importance of quality assurance and ongoing planning, resource development and cost allocation, and how to apply these principles to new and existing funds.
Target audience: CIL executive directors, managers, fiscal staff, and board members who have at least a basic understanding of fiscal procedures and legal requirements.
Level: Introductory to Intermediate.
Purpose: Apply principles of EDGAR for fiscal accountability to improve the quantity and quality of IL services.
Upon completion of this teleconference/webcast, participants will be able to:
- Describe the relationship between good fiscal practices and effectiveness of services and programs
- Describe effective internal controls to achieve results and safeguard program integrity and assets, including how to track funds adequately to show proper spending
- Cite general cost allocation principles, including personnel activity reports (PARs) that conform with federal law and grant terms
- Increase their effectiveness as administrators by learning how EDGAR, OMB regulations, and other financial rules apply to their centers
