Generation ADA: Rise Up! 2015 Annual Conference on Independent Living (Image: red power fist outlined by a black circle) Sponsorship Opportunities - Sponsor Packages - Exhibits - Advertising July 27-30 Grand Hyatt Washington, DC Presented by the National Council on Independent Living [NCIL Logo] A Message from the Executive Director   Dear Advocates and Friends,   Since the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) almost 25 years ago, an entire generation of young advocates with disabilities has grown up -- the ADA Generation. These advocates are here; ready to be included and supported to lead.   The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) is the longest-running national disability organization working across lines of age and disability. If our success is to continue, we must look towards the future and build authentic and lasting participation and leadership of young advocates in NCIL and throughout the Independent Living and Disability Rights Movements.   With the generous support of our sponsors, we will come together in Washington this summer to honor our past and catalyze our future as we learn from each other, foster new leadership, cultivate cross-generational connections, and secure our Movement’s growth. Supporting the Annual Conference on Independent Living is a great way for organizations and businesses to become active in the Independent Living Movement -- ensuring all Americans with disabilities are empowered to exert influence, choice, and control in every aspect of their life.   I hope you will join us this July as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the ADA, lift-up the next generation of disability-rights leaders, and do the work that will bring our Movement to its full potential: a united people who will create a world in which people with disabilities are valued equally and participate fully.   If you have any questions, please contact NCIL Operations Director Tim Fuchs or myself using the contact information below. Your consideration of support is greatly appreciated. Kelly Buckland Executive Director, National Council on Independent Living   Ready to make a commitment? Founded in 1982, NCIL represents thousands of individuals with disabilities and organizations, including Centers for Independent Living (CILs), Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs), and other organizations that advocate for the human and civil rights of Americans with disabilities.   An outcome of the national Disability Rights and Independent Living Movements, NCIL was founded to embody the values of disability culture and Independent Living philosophy, which creates a new social paradigm and emphasizes that people with disabilities are the best experts on their own needs, that they have crucial perspective to contribute to society, and are deserving of equal opportunity to decide how to live, work, and take part in their communities. NCIL envisions a world in which people with disabilities are valued equally and participate fully.   Since its inception, NCIL has carried out its mission by assisting our members to build their capacity to promote social change, eliminate discrimination, and create opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in the legislative process to affect change. NCIL promotes a national advocacy agenda set by its membership and provides input and testimony on national disability policy.
